The advantages of using PNG file format in website designing over other formats ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the image format helps to make better and efficient web graphics that will entice your consumersThe PNG image format was introduced a few years back; it was brought out for consumers in the mid 90's to make up for the shortcomings of the traditional GIF file format. However, it did not make an impression because the the browsers of the time were not designed to support the state of the art offerings of PNG so internet designers and creators had to include it in their designs stingily. One of the major blocks that marred the features of PNG was with Microsoft's Internet Explorer which was the most well known and widely used browsers of that period; IE had very little place for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be incorporated in limited capacity. PNG is self optimizing: A major concern that web designers need to handle very often is the issue where the contrast and the brightness of the monitor has to be regulated to see the the display correctly; this problem occurs due to the Gamma settings of different monitors. Gamma is a technology that helps to spread the luminance across the monitor display. However, different operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Therefore, multimedia that is color corrected specifically for Windows will seem wrong when seen on Mac. Once again, in this case the innovative PNG format comes to the rescue, in PNG, you can save the images with an inherent Gamma correction feature so despite the differences in operating systems; the Gamma settings will be changed on its own to display a file with the perfect ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
