Why Should You Use PNG Images in Your Website Creation?
The pros of including PNG file format in website designing over other file types such as GIF and JPEG; the file type can be used to make really amazing and spectacular images that will prove alluring to your consumersThe PNG file type was introduced quite a while back; it was put forth for consumers around 95/96 to make up for the shortcomings of the the common GIF file format. However, it did not catch on because the the browsers of the time were unable to support the progressive features of PNG so web designers and makers were compelled to incorporate it restrictedly. One of the main hindrances faced by the format was Microsoft's flagship product, Internet Explorer which was by far the most famous browsers of that period; IE had limited place for PNG support consequently the format could only be used in the most restricted way. But, things metamorphosed after the availability of IE7; this fresh browser from Microsoft has proved immensely useful in increasing increasing the utility of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is by far the most innovative image formats around today:
You will be able to create images that can be superimposed due to their transparency or a property known as alpha transparency: When you pitch GIF against PNG, will notice that a very distinct advantage with PNG is that you will only be able to save a specific color in a transparent format through GIF this simply means that you can get the color regardless of it being opaque or transparent with no other color in betweenbut when you use PNG, you get a serious feature over GIF; because the format is capable of producing semi transparent pixels. This feature gives you the ability to save a PNG file with a soft drop shadow and then float it against any background. The Image can also be used as a background with gradient or a water mark. The format lets you incorporate the smooth fading of hues from entirely opaque to absolutely transparent, and hence you will be able to view the webpage below
They look spectacular: Apart from the fact, that you get amazing flexibility wit PNG images; there are several other advantages to incorporating this format. For instance, if you choose a JPG image, you lose a part of the details from the original file every time the file is saved, so in time, you will be able to view a distinct deterioration in the finesse of the pictures. Even if, this problem has been solved in GIF and you will be able to save the files without losing any information, GIF has a highly restrictive 256 color palette, which imparts it quite useless if you want to save a picture. But, when you use PNG, you will get the best attributes of both these formats; you get a full color display similar to JPEG format and it also supports managed color palette a la GIF files. Another advantage is that the compression of the picture is lossless so the picture does not change regardless of how many time you save it.
PNG is self optimizing: One of the hurdles that web programmers have to tackle very often is the issue where the contrast and the brightness of the monitor has to be adjusted to see the the display appropriately; the issue comes into the picture due to the Gamma settings of different monitors. Gamma is a method incorporated to scatter the brightness across the display surface. However, different operating systems use varying Gamma settings. So, a picture that is color corrected for Windows may appear abnormal in Mac. Again, in this situation the flexible PNG picture format can prove useful, in PNG, you can store the pictures with with a Gamma correction feature that is innate so whatever operating system you are working on; the Gamma settings will be automatically adjusted to display a picture with the amazing ratios of contrast as well as brightness.
