Why Is it In Your Best Interest To Use PNG Image Format in Your Website Creation?
The pros of incorporating PNG file format in website creation over various other image formats ;for instance, GIF and JPEG; the image format can be used to make really amazing and wonderful icons that will entice your visitorsThe PNG file type was introduced some time ago; it was brought out for consumers in the mid 90's to cover the drawbacks of the popular GIF file format. However, it did not catch on because the then browsers were unable to support the progressive attributes of PNG so internet designers and creators had to use it sparingly. One of the major hurdles faced by the format was Microsoft's flagship product, Internet Explorer which was the most well known and widely used browsers of the time; IE had little or no space for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be used to a bare minimum. It is possible to create see through images or a feature called alpha transparency: When you analyze the features of GIF and PNG, it will become apparent that a very distinct advantage with PNG is that you can only save a particular color as transparent in GIF this simply means that the color can be used whether opaque or transparent with no other color in between; however, with PNG, you get a specific advantage; because the format supports semi transparent pixels. With this attribute, you can save a PNG image with a soft drop shadow and then float it against any background. You can also use the image as a watermark or a gradient background. They look fabulous: It is a well known fact that PNG images give you extreme flexibility also; there are a myriad of other advantages to including this format. For instance, if you make use of the JPG Format, you lose a part of the details from the initial image whenever you save the file, so eventually, you will notice a distinct decline in the appearance of the images. Even if, this issue has been solved in GIF and you can store the pictures without sacrificing any information, GIF has a highly restrictive 256 color palette, which renders it quite ineffective if you want to save a photograph. But, if PNG is incorporated, you could get the perfect attributes of both these formats; you get a full color display similar to JPEG images and it also provides managed color palette as seen in GIF files. At the same time the compression of the image is sans loss so the photograph stays as it is regardless of how many time you save it.
PNG allows for self optimization: One of the hurdles that web programmers face on a daily basis is the issue where the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be regulated to see the pictures appropriately; this problem occurs due to the difference in the Gamma setting used for the different monitors. Gamma setting is a technique used to scatter the the light across the monitor display. However, different operating systems use varying Gamma settings. Therefore, a picture that is color corrected to suit Windows may not look right on a Mac. Once again, in this situation the versatile PNG picture format can help you out, in PNG, you can store the pictures with an inherent Gamma correction feature so despite the differences in operating systems; the Gamma settings will be automatically adjusted to show an image with the amazing contrast and brightness.
